00:28 David Blackmon: Hey everybody. Welcome to another episode of wp the podcast i’m David Blackmon

00:35 Tim Strifler: And I’m Tim Strifler.

00:38  David Blackmon: Today in episode 694, 695… sorry 694 was yesterday, we’re going to do a plug-in highlight. Tim’s going to let us know about this amazing plug-in Yoast SEO Breadcrumbs Short Code. Obviously i’ve been practicing since yesterday because i just nailed it and i couldn’t even say it yesterday so i honestly i’m going to just throw myself under the bus, here have no clue what this plugin does, but Tim loves it and i trust him, so we go on with it and yeah tell us why you love.

01:07 Tim Strifler:  Yeah and let me just take a step back and say, uh we’ve been doing these WordPress plug-in highlights now and the goal of them is to promote mostly free lesser-known plug-ins right? Like we don’t need to come up here and talk about Yoast SEO itself, everyone knows about Yoast. It’s one of the most popular plugins in the world. Uh or we don’t need to come up here and talk to you about, um i don’t know, some of the other really popular plugins what’s that Gravity Form. But what we do want to talk about are the lesser known ones, that are really simple but can make a big impact. And so that’s kind of the goal with the the plug and highlight series that we’re doing here. So um first of all breadcrumbs are really great for SEO and it’s really great for user experience. And so basically what breadcrumbs are is it’s the path it’s a basically it’s the path of links that the user took to get to the page that they’re on. So the point being if they’re drilling down into a very narrow part of your website, multiple layers deep, they can see where they are how they got there and they can click the links to get back to the various levels. So uh for example on my site i have breadcrumbs and so it’s like i have my products and my product categories and then i have the product page itself right? And so that’s only a couple layers deep you can obviously get more complicated but it’s great for SEO, because it has the links back to the parent page and so internal linking is great for SEO and it’s great for user experience as i already mentioned. So that’s breadcrumbs right? So if you’re using the Yoast SEO plugin which millions upon millions of websites are then being able to put breadcrumbs on your page is really great. Now Yoast does have the ability to do breadcrumbs built in without adding an extra plug-in. What this plug-in does, is it’s a shortcode so that you can place it anywhere on your page. So for example the way that i use it is that if you’re using a page builder like Divi, and you’re creating a template page using the theme builder like a product page template, then this will allow you to put that short code in a text module or code module and then place it anywhere that you want on the page, and so it makes it really great. It’s like having a module except for it’s in short code form and so you might be thinking, well i thought Yoast SEO has a shortcode for their breadcrumbs, and they do. But it’s very basic where this plugin lets you add parameters to it. So i’m not going to go into all the nitty gritty details of it but if you are using a page builder and creating templates using the theme builder and you’re using SEO one ad breadcrumbs this is a great little plugin that will allow you to do exactly what you need to get those breadcrumbs looking really great. So that is it David, anything you want to add?

04:10 David Blackmon: Well hell no… uh you did a great job uh the only thing i’m gonna add is, come tune in tomorrow for the best email marketing platforms to use because that one i’m gonna have a lot to say about. Tim until tomorrow we’ll see you.

04:33  Tim Strifler: Take care bye-bye
