Our Best Advice on Getting Clients When You’re Brand New
- After you launch, make sure everyone in your own “network” knows what you’re doing. You are likely to get your first few clients from people you already know.
- Create a FB business page. And invite all your friends to like the page. Share the page on your personal account, announcing what you’re doing.
- Send Personal Emails or LinkedIns messages to all business owners you know personally, telling them what you’re doing, and for them to let you know if they need any website help in the future.
- “People want to hire someone that they know and trust, or someone that they know and trust, knows and trusts.”
- Give business owners you know personally a significant discount on a new website. This will help you build a portfolio of work to show, as well as testimonials.
- Reach out to Non Profits and give them good deal on a new website. Many non profits have local business owners on their board. This can be a great way to get referrals.
- Join Different Local Networking Opportunities: Chamber of Commerce, Local Business Directories, Networking Groups such as BNI
- Work at Different CoWorking Spaces or Coffee Shops. This can be a great way to meet people and spark a conversation about what you do.
- Find local businesses in your area with no website, or an outdated website. Then reach out to them and introduce yourself and let them know what you do and that you’re local.
- Get out in your community and meet people. It doesn’t have to be for the purpose of pushing your business. But naturally, people want to know what you do. And it can organically lead to jobs or referrals.
- DO GREAT WORK. This is a long term method, but it always leads to referrals and repeat business.
