00:28 David Blackmon: Hey everybody. Welcome to another episode of wp the podcast i’m David Blackmon
00:29 Tim Strifler: And I’m Tim Strifler.
00:36 David Blackmon: Today we’ve got a plug-in highlight for you. It’s been a while since we’ve done one, today we’re going to talk about the WordPress plug-in Duplicate post. Tim he’s our resident tech guy why don’t you go ahead and tell us why you love this plugin.
00:50 Tim Strifler: Definitely, and in case you missed our previous plug-in highlights we try to focus on lesser known um or maybe smaller kind of little plug-ins we’re not going to talk about. You know the big plug-ins that everyone already knows about right so these are kind of more of those little niche plug-ins that um can be small but really impactful in in terms of how handy they are and how much time they’ll be saved so duplicate post is exactly what it sounds like. It allows you to duplicate the post or post type or page whatever it may be and that’s a huge time saver. If you’re building a lot of different pages that are similar and and you want to be able to start from what you previously created rather than having to start over every time you can easily duplicate the post now if you’re using a page builder like Divi or any other page builder. You can easily duplicate the page builder content uh directly in the builder so when you create a new page Divi lets you know start from scratch choose a layout or clone something existing that you’ve created in Divi and that’s really handy too. However what i like about duplicate post is it will also duplicate the other settings within the post type so for example in a page with the Divi Page Builder you set whether you want you know a left side or right sidebar no sidebar and then whether you want to show the post title like there’s some different kind of settings that you have to do or and then maybe there’s other plugins like Yoast SEO or something like that that adds settings to the page that you, you know, kind of set up and stuff and so if you’re just doing the page builder content you’re cloning the page builder content well none of those will get duplicated you’ll have to you know configure those again but if you use duplicate post it’s going to duplicate all of those settings not just the page builder content. And so that right there, can be a huge time saver and so again it doesn’t just work with posts it works with pages it works with custom post types you might have to turn on the custom post type in settings but very very handy it’s obviously a free plug-in and i’ve had customers uh that use one of my plugins say hey can you figure out a way for for us to duplicate the the pop-up and Divi overlays for example it’s like well we could add that functionality but you could just install this plug-in here that you can use with any post and it’s free it takes two seconds and it’ll do what you need for this and any other thing you need to duplicate so that’s it.
03:23 David Blackmon: Well uh i’m not gonna repeat what you said tim you get a lot of good advice i have a bad tendency of you know i want i want to emphasize a point i want to repeat the same thing yeah
03:36 Tim Strifler: If i like something i’ll i’ll go in and i’ll say something similar to you. Um i’m just joking i just did what what you were describing.
03:46 David Blackmon: Good news is i don’t feel like or feel the need to do that check out. Duplicate post it’s a great plugin it will help expedite your WordPress development. Tomorrow we’ve got another great topic the best image optimization tools for WordPress and why you need them. Tim until tomorrow we’ll see you then.
04:13 Tim Strifler: Take care bye-bye
