00:28 David Blackmon: Welcome to another episode of WP The Podcast, my name is David Blackmon.
00:35 Tim Strifler: And i’m Tim Strifler
00:38 David Blackmon: Today in episode 814, we’re gonna discuss whether or not you need to be on social media to get web design clients? Obviously Tim and i are entrenched deeply into the WordPress world. We own WordPress agencies and it’s 2022, social media is everywhere. But the question that we’re asking ourselves is do you need to be do you need to be on social media to get web design clients. Tim, i’m throwing it over to you first my friend.
01:14 Tim Strifler: My answer is no! It’s you don’t need to be on social media to get web design clients. Now if you were a photographer i would say yes, because people they associate instagram with photographers. Right, because it’s a very visual platform, it’s very photo driven. So yeah, photographers need to be on social media. People want to see, you know what their work looks like, on instagram specifically even. But as far as web design clients, web design goes no you do not need to be. I don’t think it’s something that um will hurt you obviously. But i think it comes down to with social media on in certain uh niches, certain industries. It comes down to like return on time investment. Right like how much return for the amount of time to actually do social media? Well what type of return are you gonna get? I personally don’t think that it’s worth the amount of effort to do it. Right, and do it well um because there’s so many other easier ways to get clients. So it’s one of the things where it’s like sure, if you want to like go for it like it’s not going to hurt your business but i just don’t really think it’s going to help it, especially when you consider the amount of time that goes into it. So we didn’t talk about this before so i’m curious what David’s thoughts are?
02:36 David Blackmon: Yeah, and well I guess, i won’t keep you in suspense. I think i agree with Tim, and technically you don’t need it. However i will say that if you can do it, you should. Because one good client from social media could justify the expense and time that it’s going to take to, you know manage your social media. If that makes sense and stuff. I think that it can be a a good source of um validation and um credibility for your company. So if you’re a brand new company and you’re just getting started, and you don’t have a lot of um, you know customers and credibility yet, you may want to. Perception is everything. So if you can, you can put yourself out there and and uh and get a client from it then it then it might be worth your while and stuff. But i agree you know, at the end of the day most of the web design referrals once you get going are coming from uh you know word of mouth referrals. Once your website gets established in your area wherever it is that you’re serving you’re gonna get a good pipeline of leads and social media is not one that you’re gonna have to use. But in the beginning it might work good for you um in the end it may be all consuming like Tim said. It just takes too much time because you’ve got a pipeline full of clients, so there you go do you need it?
04:12 Tim Strifler: No!
04:13 David Blackmon: No! All right, uh tomorrow we’ve got another great topic, how many H1 tags should you have per se per page for SEO. The answers might surprise you, join us tomorrow and we’ll let you know.
