How To Know If Themes and Plugins Are Safe
- Online reviews 01:39
- Do a search on the plugin or theme that you’re planning to use.
- If it’s pretty popular, there will be a ton of reviews online.
- If you can’t find reviews, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just test it out on a development environment before putting it on your site.
- Social media WordPress groups 02:39
- Post in your WordPress Facebook group or other online forums and ask if certain themes and plugins are safe.
- WordPress Repository is almost always safe 02:56
- If you are downloading from the WordPress repository, these downloads are almost always safe because these have been through a code review with WordPress itself.
- If you are downloading from a website directly, be more careful.
