00:28 David Blackmon: Welcome to another episode of WP The Podcast, my name is David Blackmon.
00:35 Tim Strifler: And i’m Tim Strifler
00:38 David Blackmon: Today in episode 8 23 We’re going to talk about the number one thing that you can do to be successful online. And no it’s not technology based. It’s not you know Master WordPress or you know figuring out some secret SEO tactics. Tim tell them what it is.
00:57Tim Strifler: It’s two fold. it’s talking about politics and it’s arguing with people in facebook or Youtube comments. Just kidding. It was a total joke.
01:07 David Blackmon: That’s a good one.
01:10 Tim Strifler: No, the most successful or the thing that you can do to be successful online is provide value, right? And David’s gonna expand on that. But the internet is a place where you can give value and you will be rewarded. Not going to happen overnight. But it will happen.
05:18 David Blackmon: Yeah. I think for me, you know, the internet is a is a is a resource. It’s a tool that people use to learn things. So I think that businesses get hung up in the fact that they think that the internet is a place where they can sell their goods primarily. And yes it is. But the mass user base of the internet and the web is not to purchase things. It’s to learn things. It’s to solve problems that come up and stuff. So if you can share your knowledge whatever your business is freely the return on that is huge because when the people do need, you know to purchase something your whatever it is, you’re selling online when it comes time to make a purchase, they’re gonna often go to the resource that’s provided them a tremendous amount of value and has helped them. And Taman eyes businesses were truly built around this principle. You know, I mean, we’ve been, you know, product creators plug in and theme creators and WordPress since 2015, but we’ve been providing value and helping people with WordPress, you know, solving problems, answering questions, freely since, you know, really since 2014, about a year prior to ever even selling anything. And when we decided to start selling things, people recognized, oh, you know, I wanna, you know, I want to support this person and I’m the same way, you know, when I’m out there and I’m like learning something if I’m stuck or I’ve got a project that I need to do and, you know, and, and, and I watch a lot of Youtube videos and stuff to try to learn something or to solve a problem that I may have when it comes times to buy, you know, if someone has an affiliate link or if they have a product, you know, I’m going and I’m going to support that person that’s, that’s been helpful to me, that’s just how my brain works and I think a lot of people are like that. So don’t be afraid to share whatever it is that you’re selling, don’t, don’t be afraid to share your knowledge. It’s not going to stop people from buying from you. It’s gonna have the exact opposite effect. It’s going to make them want to buy from you.
03:46 Tim Strifler: Yeah, because when you are sharing your knowledge, people are, they’re able to get to know you a little bit right? They’re going to feel like they know you like you and trust you and those are the ingredients for for someone to buy from you, right? People want to buy from people that they know like and trust. And so when you’re sharing knowledge and you’re educating people are going to naturally feel like they know you they’re going to like you, you know, unless you’re just a terrible person or something and then they’re gonna trust you as well. So and then there was one more point I wanted to make on that, oh it’s gone, It was there and then lost it. Well, it probably came into my brain because something jumped in there based on what you were saying. And I want to kind of expound on that. you know, dang it left. I guess it left my brain to its friday folks, we don’t know what day this episode is going to air on, but we’re recording it on friday. And so our brains are fried and it’s late friday afternoon for me to, you know, Yeah, David’s three hours ahead of me. So I thought of mine, I was going to say, providing value, educating teaching. You don’t have to be an expert, right? Like obviously you want to not share like false information or stuff that’s just inaccurate. But you can teach people no matter where you’re at in your journey, so you don’t have to have a decade of experience to share your knowledge, right? And here’s the cool thing, David, I have been doing this a long time, but we’re still learning every day and there’s someone who might only have been building websites or doing internet marketing for, you know, a year or less, they have the ability to teach me something, right? Because all of this, it’s so complex and there’s so many different angles and everyone has a different perspective and different experience that they can share. So, so yeah, that’s that, that was my thought that I finally, and it’s ever evolving. It’s always evolving. So, I think when you get to a place where you think, you know everything and you have all the answers, that’s when it’s, you’re not in a very good place in my yeah, that’s when you get humbled and realize that you actually don’t know, there’s a there’s a phenomenon.
06:10 David Blackmon: I forget what it’s called, but basically it’s like the concept of as the more, you know, the more you realize how little, you know, and there’s there’s like actually a graph of like the whole wisdom, Tim it’s called like old person wisdom, you know? So I totally agree. Alright, cool. Well tomorrow we’ve got another great topic, the fastest way to build an audience online. Till tomorrow. We’ll see you then.
06:40 Tim Strifler: Take care, bye.
