Top 4 Tools for Live Streaming

  1. Wirecast 02:10
    • This tool was around long before Facebook and YouTube starting doing live streaming.
    • The plus side with this tool is that you can multicast to Facebook and YouTube at the same time.
    • The down side is that this tool is very complicated to use. In Tim’s words, “you’ve got to be a rocket engineer to set this Wirecast up”.
  2. 03:50
    • This is a great live streaming tool that you can also use for online meetings with one person or multiple people.
    • It has the ability to multicast to Facebook and YouTube and is more user friendly than Wirecast.
  3. Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) 04:55
    • This software is basically the free, open source version of Wirecast.
    • It’s a very powerful tool, considering that it is free.
    • The downside is that you can’t multicast to more than one channel at a time.
  4. Native Platform Tools 05:45
    • You can always use the native live streaming tools on Facebook and YouTube.
    • It’s very easy to use this method, but you won’t get the extra features that the other options will give you, such as screen sharing.
